Welcome to the Library!

General Information:
  • Hours: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

  • Book overdue fees are ten cents per day, with a maximum fee of $2.

Conduct:
  • Enter and exit through the front doors quietly, being considerate of other students, teachers, and staff.

  • Don’t disturb others.

  • Beverages must be in closed-top containers – no open cans.

  • Place recyclables in the container provided at the front of the library.

  • Return all books, materials, chairs, and tables to their appropriate places in the library before leaving.

  • Be respectful to all staff, other students, library materials, and property.

 

When coming to the library individually during a class or study hall, students must:

  • Have a valid pass.

  • Sign in/out when entering/exiting the library.

  • Stay for the entire period unless your pass indicates otherwise.

Note: Students who fail to follow the above or any school rules can lose library privileges.

Circulation Desk:
  • Book Checkout and Return:

    • 3-week checkout with a maximum of 4 books at one time.

    • ​Late fines are 10 cents per day – 10-day grace period – Max fine is $2.00.

    • Overdue notices and fine notices will be emailed every Friday.

    • Contact Mr. Leech if you owe a fine. âœ‰

Book Collection:
  • Fiction:

    • Shelved in alphabetical order by author’s last name, the label will say “F” followed by the first 3 letters.

    • Labels are posted at the ends of shelves.

    • Series labels on the shelf (orange dots indicate series/number).

  • Non-fiction:​

    • Shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System – label will have a number.

    • Categories include General Knowledge, Philosophy and Psychology, Religion, Social Studies, Languages, Science, Technology, Arts and Recreation, Literature, History, and Geography.

    • A poster is provided on the wall for reference.

    • Category/sub-category labels on the shelf.

  • New Books: Both fiction and non-fiction. If there is a title you would like to order, please fill out our Book Request Form.

  • Rosies: List contains synopses of this year’s selections. Read and vote at the end of the school year. Learn more about the Rosies here.

  • AP/Honors: List posted, some copies are shelved in general fiction.​

​

  • Magazines/Newspapers:

    • Current issues are in binders, previous issues are underneath.

    • DO NOT cut out articles – ask for older issues.

​

  • Reference: Encyclopedias, etc. Limited check-out time.

​

  • Oversized: Both fiction and non-fiction.

​

  • Other Collections:

    • Graphic novels

    • Story Collections

    • Juvenile

    • Reading Development

    • Yearbooks

  • Overflow: In side room and Mrs. DeLisle’s office – contains extra copies of books.

 

Note: Please do not re-shelve books. Place them on top of shelves or on tables.

Other Areas:
  • Distance Learning Lab: Available for use as long as a class is not using it. Exit from the front doors.

  • Ellison Room:

    • Check with Mrs. DeLisle or Mr. Leech the first time you use the room.

    • Provide your own construction paper.

    • Center die front to back – pull the handle ONCE.

    • Clean up after yourself – save useable paper/recycle scrap.

    • Replace dies in proper places with labels facing out.

    • Middle school dies available – see Mr. Leech or Mrs. DeLisle.

  • Conference Room: Do not disturb conferences.
